FDM conducted gender research in Nepal Police and Armed Police Force funded by DFID. The main objective of the research was to provide a basis on which Nepal Police and Armed Police Force could achieve gender balance and gender equality by responding towards gendered needs, roles and responsibilities. The study identified the need of both men and women Armed Police Officer and respond to the security needs of both gender for equity. In addition, the study reviewed the existing policies and practices on recruitment, retention and promotion of female armed Police Officers and new initiatives needed to target them.
