FDM has been contracted by Street Child to conduct a Market Research Consultancy to Support Livelihood Opportunities for Marginalized Girls in Madhesh Province, Nepal. This study is part of Street Child’s “She Leads: Life Skills and Entrepreneurship” project, which aims to empower marginalized Dalit girls particularly married girls aged 15 to 25. Building on past successes, the project aims to provide financial literacy, life skills, and entrepreneurship training, along with mentorship and resources to support enterprise development and enhance the socio-economic well-being of participants.

The primary objective of this market research study is to assess sustainable income-generating opportunities both self-employment and small business enterprises for the target demographic. FDM will explore potential livelihood pathways by identifying promising sectors in both agricultural and non-agricultural domains, analyzing current market trends, value chains, and relevant skills required for these sectors.

The research will also examine the key barriers that influence Dalit girls’ access to these opportunities, taking into account their unique social, cultural, and economic contexts. Through this assessment, FDM will generate a contextualized market research report with actionable recommendations and strategies to inform the design of targeted, market-aligned livelihood support interventions.
